The Institute of Political Science at the University of Wrocław was established in 1969. At present, we offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and social project management, and a master’s degree in national security management. Studies in political science are offered in both Polish and English.
Our students have the opportunity to take classes with lecturers for whom work is also a passion, and whose knowledge and experience is also used by public administration, business and non-governmental organisations. The institute is home to research clubs that organise many student events, led by the annual Political Science Picnic, a joint event for students and our lecturers.
Academically, our staff are authors of numerous and recognised publications and carry out both national and international research projects. They conduct research, among others, in the spheres of: international relations, political thought, political theory, history, communication and media, political marketing, social policy and political systems, in which the so-called Wrocław system school, well-known and respected in Poland, was formed in the early 1990s. The Institute currently publishes two scientific journals: Wrocławskie Studia Politologiczne and Polish Political Science Review.
As a result, our Institute has for years been ranked among the leading Polish political science centres. This is confirmed, among other things, by the decisions of the Polish Accreditation Commission, which has given us the highest rating in the quality of education. We build our high position by developing contacts with both domestic and foreign academics, representatives of public and political institutions, administration, media, entrepreneurs and third sector organisations. In 2012, our political science programme was among the winners of a competition organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to prepare the best study programmes based on the National Qualification Framework and adapted to the requirements of the labour market.
